Yarn Diet Failure

Even more yarnFiber. I am powerless before you. The only time I can say, "No, I will not buy?" When the fundage is below par and other bills (electricity, mortgage) must be paid. Otherwise, I am your doormat. Today, Sandnes Kitten mohair joined the family of recent purchases. I must be on a feline theme because I've also stocked up on that lovely braided cotton / acrylic blend called TLC Cotton Plus. You know. The one with the orange cat on the label. Hey, at $2.00 a ball, how could I not?

lacey shrugMeanwhile, just to get the feel of how the shiny softness that is Cotton Plus might knit up, I started (gulp!) another quickie project for Stitches: a simple, yet feminine shrug of my own design for those of us with more ample upper arms. (It really is a prettier color in vivo.) It also gave me the opportunity to try out a simple lace pattern I found while perusing Le Internet. Try this at home:

(Ed. note: this really is a lace pattern, though it doesn't appear so in the photo. My stitches are tight. Besides, it has yet to be blocked.)

Multiple of 10 sts plus 1 Repeat of 2 rows. Begin with right-side row.

ROW 1(Right side row): *K1, yo, k3, (sl 1, k2tog,psso), k3, yo,* repeat from * to *, end k1.

ROW 2: P.

I'm going to be a good girl and put this away for now, though. Mum's sweater beckons.

Who can ever possibly stick to the yarn diet? You know you'll use it eventually, so you might as well buy it when you see a great deal!
