Love Feedback, Hate Spam
I was the recipient of something new today: comment spam!
This being my first time and all, and having posted my first pattern, I initially thought these were legitimate responses. That is, until I read them.
So what does this mean? Well, I'll be a twisted purler if I'm going to let some goober stop the feedback train. What I have done is enable the "human being" verification feature of Blogger comments.
Huh? That just means you'll have to type in whatever letter/number verification code is presented by Blogger before the comments will be posted. Sorry for any inconvenience, but hopefully this is just a short-term thing. The other option of disabling comment altogether is simply not palatable.
What say you? Let me know either via Comments or email.

found your site via the KR boards - love the shrug!! it's definately in my "future projects" bin. =)
about the spamming, yea, i've had to delete a couple from my blog as well, and i turned on the blogger verification code (i've seen other knitting blogs starting to do the same). i've also seen others put in Haloscan alongside Blogger comments (no anonymous comments on blogger tho) and that helps with the spamming.
I think there are keywords that trigger the spammers. For example when I called myself a post "ess ell you tee" for posting too many times in a day, I got inundated with spam.
*I did the goofy spelling so you won't get re-hit with spam from my comment.
Oooooh, CAPTCHA!
You realize anti-CAPTCHA is out there and this screening will only hold the spammers back for another 15 minutes or so.
Nice that Blogger added this. Wish they would've announced it.
I got my first comment spam yetserday too. I'm gonna try the verification feature....let's see how it works!
Thanks for the great pattern. Just to let you know, the link to your pattern on the right side bar doesn't work. I was able to click to the pattern in your post.
yes, spammers seems to be coming our way. I'm already using the word verification function and so far so good. Love that Mia shrug pattern. Great work. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Karen:
You haven't been here in a while, but I figure that your okay when I saw your pic on Bonne Marie's site. I hope all is well with your loved ones on the gulf coast. Let us know whats up when you can. Take care.
