Ms. Fix It

Well, pooh! Shoulder and arm problems have flared up again, keeping me from any significant knitting. I was, however, able to finish the front of my Mom's sweater. Trouble is, I changed the yarn called for in the yoke. OK, not so much the yarn but how the pattern called for it to be used. Instead of using a single strand of Kitty ladder yarn, I combined it with the Jaeger cotton so the look wasn't so "open". Now it was time to do the same thing to the back piece which I'd already finished.

First, one little snip to start frogging and perhaps reuse the yarn. Recalcitrant stuff, that Kitty! Because of the thick-thin nature of the ladder yarn, it refused to rip out nicely (or at all!). Desperate measures were called for, so, much to the horror of my Knit Night pals, I pulled out the Fiskars and took aim. I cut away the 6 inches or so of the yoke, leaving two rows for picking out to reach the live stitches. Sorry. No pictures of the surgery. There are sensitive readers to consider.

In the end, all was well and the patient bounced back - right on to the size 7 rosewoods, as if nothing happened at all. Sometimes, our knitting projects can be so forgiving of these little indignities.

Hopefully, my physical issues will soon subside and I can pick up where the surgery left off. No pictures until it's done. And no new projects, either.

Now there's my incentive!
