This and That
Whew! What a week, work-wise. I came in from San Francisco Tuesday night after a few long days of conference work, so I've spent the balance of the week (and weekend) playing catch-up on the sleep and the laundry. You think that means no knitting content? Mais, non!
At Thursday's Knit Night, I noticed one of our members had some mittens that had seen better days. She said she'd be happy to have some new ones, but only if I was willing to make them. This is another one of those things I've never knit before - only crocheted. Not one to pass up a challenge (or the chance to practice with dpns), I whipped up a couple of mittens. Not a pair mind you, but two different ones. I leave it to you to decide which one gets a mate, so cast your vote via the Comments section.
Meanwhile, I continue to work on the never-ending sleeves to my mother's looong overdue sweater. Silly me. I thought redoing the front and back twice meant the work was over and I could just coast on the rest. Intent on completion, these sleeves, which I am working at the same time, were the only thing that accompanied me to the Left Coast. I'm so over them, that they only saw the light of day as I waited in the Oakland airport. I shall, however, perservere.
Last, but by no means least, while I breathlessly await the "mitten vote", I thought I'd leave you with a shot of the Art Fibers stash enhancement. If I could reach it properly, I'd pat myself on the back for showing such restraint. A little wild silk and I was good to go!

Editor's note: It appears that the Brainylady and I are on the same wavelength. She's asking for readers to opine on her fingerless mitts. Ah, yes, it's that cool weather knitting time of the year.

you're actually knitting for another knitter? you are totally selfless! i have to force myself to knit for the non-knitters in my life.
I'm liking the bobbles... they look fun.
I'm a cable gal. Is the red thumb crocheted? I like it.
Well now, Kat. You've discovered my awful secret: I mix it up a bit with knit, crochet, and embroidery.
Glad you like it.
I love the cabled mitten. But that's me. More streamlined and classic. :D
Bobbles all the way!! They are some fun mittens and will go nicely with a camel. black, white, gray or most any color coat.
