Beady-Beady-Beady
With apologies to Tweaky, I've been in a last minute scramble to find just the right bead for my Knitting Olympics Lace and Bead event. Beadworks has seen quite a lot of the virtual me in the past 3 weeks. In any case, two additional colors landed on my doorstep last night: a purple-bluish and a shiny goldie brownish. Surprisingly (to me at least), the shiny goldie brownish won based on size, color and the ability to stand out from the yarn without clashing.
Other preparations include the purchase of size 5 straights instead of using the Addi circulars. Since there are yarn-overs and I'll have to manage a bead and a hook at the same time, I decided that straights would keep things more manageable in the long run. I have the capacity to be wrong. We shall see. If I find I need to change tools, then so be it!
I've also pushed the swift and ballwinder into action, having readied two hanks of the Alpaca Cloud. No need to be slowed down by poor time management, lack of experience AND the need to wind yarn. Needless to say, Nikita and Sylvia were less than enthralled by this flurry of activity. After watching the swift go round a few dozen times, Nik tucked his feet underneath himself and took a nap. Sylvia was right behind him.

your cats are just tooo cute! Don't you just love the ball winder and swift? I can't imagine why they'd decide to take a nap when the swift is in action... it mesmerizes me every time!
I'll have to watch and see how your beaded lace project comes out. I just happened upon a few hanks of Alpaca Cloud and Shadow myself, so I'm thinking that this might turn out quite nice...
Any new design projects yet for 2006?
Your kitties are adorable!!
Niki and Sylvia are so cute and angelic! Don't ya just love the way csts look when they sleep?
I see youve been bitten by the bead bug HARD :)
I cant wait to see what you make.
I use circs for beading but then I use circs for everything (and DPNs for the rest!)
You know I've had a ball winder for at least six months and I used it for the first time to wind the orange skein in my recent post. I have a nostepinde and a swift and umpin loves to lay just under the swift as it whirrs round and round. Using the ball winder made it too fast for him so I guess I stick to my noste!
Good Luck in your olympic endeavor!
Alrighty Now! The Race is to the Swif(test) and apparently you have that covered, teeeeheeeeeeeee...
I'll be cheering you on [from the comfort of my sofa, but of course...] while the Flame is Lit and you Start your race...
BEST OF LUCK FOR A FABULOUS FINISH!
I can't wait to see it!
