The Taming of the Shoes
And yarn. And all the other crap I've managed to accumulate and refuse to let go of. Yesterday, two wonderful Polish men came into my life. Their sole purpose? To bring clarity to my clutter. Which they did and I love them for it! After 3 hours of hammers, drills and metal saws, they left me with closet nirvana - and more shelving than I could have ever hoped for!
What you see here is a shot of my bedroom closet, with now 9 (gasp!) shelves for 40 pairs of shoes - shelves that will not collapse like a cheap cardboard house. And, ah, sweet mystery, I now have 3 shelves in that closet for my little yarny loves instead of the 2 I had previously. See those boxes and bins? Yarn, top to bottom. Squee!
That's not all of my stash, but you get my drift. I've taken to a bit of creative storing by using previously empty rolling luggage as holding pens. Why store air when yarn needs a home? There are other shelves and other bins and hat boxes laden with fiber goodness, but the complete stash flash will have to wait another day.
There was an upside to actually having to empty, then reload the four spaces I had done: I believe my yarn lust has been sated. Yes, friends. I've been off the sale yarn and handpainted beauties for over a week. I've even tempted fate by cruising my old haunts - just for a lookie, but no bites. Once the Knitting Olympics have passed, I plan to begin some serious stash-diving until Stitches Midwest rolls into town in the middle of August. Plenty of time to make way (and save money) for the yarn!
Before, you acknowledge my restraint, I do have to come completely clean: I bought two pairs of boots, because one? Well, you can't have just one, n'est pas?!

V. v. v. envious of the walk-in closet and shelves! I stacked my shoes this morning - one pair on top of the other. *sigh*
That is both astonishing and beautiful!
Oh, what a beautiful closet! So wonderful! I feel the need to go to the store right now to buy shelves to attempt this myself. It is closet nirvana!
Very jealous of the closet organization. All of my closets could use a visit from the 2 wonderful Polish men.
Very cool. I need a closet like that too!
