Another WIP Bites The Dust
Ever since I reorganized the stash so that the works-in-progress and those items destined for the frog pond were separated from the other yarn, I've been trying to whittle down the WIPs. Today, I not only moved a particular item from needles to finished, I achieved what (for me) is a milestone: my first sock!
Follow me as I recap the months-long journey of a sock in the making. Alright. Maybe not real knitting time months, but I do believe I cast on this turquoise blue practice sock at the end of January. Sadly, it sat untouched until yesterday when, for the second weekend in a row, the urge to purge the WIP bag hit.

Ribbing, then leg in 4-stitch mock cable

Several hours later, a heel flap and the turning of the heel

Sunday evening, an entire sock appears!
You experienced sock knitters may think, "Feh! No big deal." And you would be right on so many levels. The grafted toe procedure was less than successful, though I am pleased with the heel and gusset. I've much to learn yet: short row, toe up, a proper Kitchener.
For now, though, I will bask in the glory of this, my first sock.

Congratulations! I would have never guessed it was your first pair - beautiful! I'm on my third pair, and still struggling with Kitchenering.
GET A DARNING EGG!! (and chaek out my tutorial!) LOVE the sock, well done you!
Congrats! Now that's a milestone.
I'm still working on getting to this point - I keep thinking different patterns will do it.
