Can So Finish!

Sometimes, if we look closely enough (and we're not too chicken to admit it!), we find repeating themes in our lives: works well under time pressure but easily bored / distracted and quickly moves on. And thus it has gone with everything from graduate school (did well, lost interest) to careers (I've had 3 do-overs, so far).

Now the knitting? Yes, my adult stint at knitting has become a reflection of the rest of my endeavors. I'm into it and will do it for hours on end (knitting, crocheting, designing, yarn hunting) until *fizzle* - I'm done now! Naturally, it may be weeks (or months) before a particular project catches my attention again - either through guilt ("I know. I promised to make it for you."), public humiliation ("You never finish anything!"), or paucity of funds, therefore no new yarn or patterns.

It was a combination of guilt and public humiliation that prompted me to finish the hat portion of a long-ago promised hat and scarf set for a good friend of mine, Zes. When I told her I was almost done with the hat, she says she was just kidding when she uttered, "But you never finish anything."

Grrr. One other thing to which I respond? A challenge!

We must have been separated at birth. Because I am the poster child for works well under pressure. In fact, I can't get anything done -unless- I have a looming deadline. Oh, and god forbid someone tells me I can't do something--it's ON!

Yes, I'd say that Zes threw down the gauntlet.

And you responded like a champ.

Hat looks great!
