Laying In Supplies

A local Chicago news anchorette showed up at the Museum of Contemporary Art's monthly SnB on Tuesday. She proclaimed herself new to our stitching ranks and asked if she could do a few interviews and shoot some footage of us performing our rituals of sticks and string. She called knitting a "fad," which made me involuntarily cringe. But then I started thinking. If it is a fad that will quickly fade, that means the plethora of yummy fibers to which we have abundant access must quickly dry up as well.

I, of course, am not one to wait until the levee breaks. The news anchorette must *know* something. Time to lay in supplies for spring knitting. How about some cotton and silk Jaeger Trinity? Or Catalina pima cotton and alpaca? Or Jo Sharp Silk Road Aran? Yes. These will do nicely! And since there will be a shortage (and possible stash looting), be warned: Nikita is on duty!

Meanwhile, until that fateful day comes, I still feel it my duty to recruit, um, enable other knitters. Witness one of my gifts to my friend Yukako. Not only did she receive some yummy Debbie Bliss cotton angora, she was also gifted with an appropriately-gauged Rowan pattern book for spring knits. I think it's a win-win, n'est pas?
Happy Birthday, Yukako!
