Argh! There Be Treasure Here
Stitches Midwest 2006 is over and I can finally exhale. Believe me when I say that I did my part to keep the crafting economy afloat. I even feel good about the fact that I brought a couple of others down the rabbit hole with me ;-} Would you expect any less from an enabling yarnivore like me?
First up, we have 10 skeins of Webs Valley Yarns Amherst, two 500 yard hanks of wonderfully soft and silky Brooks Farm Primero 100% kid mohair, then there are a few skeins of Noro Silk Garden. I may have pushed aside a couple of novelty yarn-clad women engaged in their own feeding frenzy to rescue two 10-packs from the bottom of a large metal crate, but dammit, Miss Noro was coming home with me!

Next in the photo line up are 3 skeins of heavyweight Nearly Solid Socks That Rock, 6 skeins of Shelridge Farms Wool and Nylon sock yarn, and 4 hanks of oh-so-soft Chunky Baby Alpaca from Catalina Yarns. Did I feel even the least bit foolish standing in the booth, rubbing the cashmere quality fiber against my cheek? Um, that would be no.

Lastly, these gorgeous buttons and closures from Moving Mud were too sweet to resist - so unique, handmade and glistening as they hung from the simple burlap backdrop. One day I will use them. For now, I am considering mounting them in wooden shadow boxes as art pieces. Perhaps not the intended purpose, but what the hell? They're too lovely to leave wrapped in paper.

During Friday's vintage sock knitting class, I happened to mention the size of my yarn stash. Nancy Bush overheard me and said, "Maybe you should just stay home and knit."
Amen to that!

Hey Karen! Always nice to see you. Looks like some awfully nice goodies came home with you this weekend!
I saw Moving Mud at MD S&W and loved all their stuff, too! I agree they are more like pieces of art, but hey, so are the things we knit!!
I love those buttons. Beautiful new yarn!

Alas, I was too broke to go to Stitches. But it looks like you made up for my not going.
Great haul!
Wow..and I was feeling guilty to get a few skeins ;-) Fabulous clasps.
Pretty, pretty, pretty - Nancy Bush got it right, "just stay home...":) Interesting to note, in your and BM's posts about Stitches you don't really say how awful the crowds were, that's how bloggers describe the West Coast version in Feb. (I think that's what keeps me away.) Terry
Love the clasps and closures!! Just take care not to block a nasal passage when you sniff them... :-)
I've been making a wee bit o' progress myself -- I may need to learn how to bind off when I'm there in September!!
What a haul! Nancy Bush is a smart lady :)
I also was at Stitches Midwest and did the exact same thing as you...had a map...had time between classes...and bought stuff. Did you see the glass circular needles? Bought some of those too. I took the Bohus Knitting class...fabulous!
Looks like you had a great time at Stitches. I love the Moving Mud pieces you picked up - how fun to mount them as art for a while.
I also picked up some of the Catalina chunky alpaca, can't wait to work with it.
I didn't get to take any classes but I thought it was a great event!
WHOA.
Talk about the hair of the dog that bit ME, I am all high and dizzy again looking at this gorgeous *take*.
Well done, Ms. B, you are and remain, My Mentor...
