I Think I'm In Trouble

You know how one thing leads to another -- especially when cruising on the Internet? I was over at Wendy's having a bit of Knit and Tonic and thought I'd look for sources for today's fanstastic yarn (Curious Creek Fibers - beautiful stuff). One site led to another and you could've knocked me over with a dpn when I saw it.

I think I may have found my next crafting vice, courtesy of Ashford. Many of you know that esteemed name primarily because of the spinners among us. But it is their new Knitter's Loom that has me saying, "Uh oh!"

Aside from being oh-so-adorable, this little lovely is compact, portable and looks super intuitive. Big plus? It presents a whole new way to create fabric faster and opens up other possibilities for pattern and texture that tickle me to my crafty bones! Aside from lacking the $249.00 for the whole shebang at the moment, what's not to love?

I've done almost everything from crewel working Impressionist paintings to rug hooking. Now, I welcome any weavers / knitters / Ashford product afficionados who'd like to weigh in on what would, for me, be new a handiwork horizon.

Well, if you are interested in weaving, I'd suggest the more sturdy and versitale Rigid Heddle Loom. It can be seated on a table or on a stand and can create a variety of widths, textures, etc. that the Knitter's Loom cannot. It is more of a true weaving experience than the Knitter's Loom. Less trendy, but you can do a lot more with it.

Here is a link to the rigid heddle loom: http://www.ashford.co.nz/weaving/weaving-frameset.htm

This is what I learned to weave on, and it was wonderful to learn the craft on.

My friend Julie (BoogaJ) has one of these. She really likes it. You might want to drop her an email for more details.

Tempting isn't it. I've been gifted with a rigid heddle loom a few weeks ago and it's still sleeping in it's box. There is just not enough hours in a day
