Baby's Got Back!

Once upon a time, there was a knitter and a baby girl with a long time to grow in her mother's tummy. Since this knitter was plagued with biomechanical troubles, she decided to get a jump on making something for this little one in an attempt to avoid the last-minute-ohmygod-the-baby's-here rush. Good plan. Poor execution.

The knitter was fast out of the gate with two-thirds of the back of the sweater, but got bogged down in other distractions: gimpy arm, sweater for mom, two socks (un-mated) and a camisole. Next thing she knows, the knitter can't knit at all and the time has skittled right on by. Darn it if that baby girl wasn't born right on time at the end of September!

The knitter's friends have scheduled a "Happy Birthday - Welcome Baby" party for next weekend, and all I have to show is the back of a dusty pink Cashmerino aran eyelet vest from Debbie Bliss "Special Knits" .

Gah! Now it is time to knit it or shut up. Can she do it? A fair wind (and heat pack) willing, she can.

I know you can do it! And holy cow is that adorable. It makes my uterus squeak.

I have no doubt that you can do it - and it's lovely so far, by the way. Hope you're still healing nicely (or at least quickly)...

Good luck with your goal. The back looks so beautiful. I am sure it will be beautiful in the end. Take care of yourself in the last leg of this race.

Hi Karen, It's been a while since I checked your blog, and I also want to thank you for the comments on mine! This little eyelet baby vest has been in the back of my mind since I first saw it, but at the time my daughters were too big for it, and nobody I know has had a girl yet. It's beautiful, and I'll bet you can finish it! Give us an update on your kitties when you get a chance. Good to hear you're back at your old tricks after the surgery!
I watched the short video The Last Knit, and I can't believe somebody (besides you) knits faster than me!
