Knitting for Mongolia

Dulaan project logoWarmth. That's something we all need at some point to nurture our spirits and keep our bodies alive. It is also something I admittedly take for granted as being readily available. If there's a chill in the air, I think nothing of grabbing a hat, a scarf or a pair of mittens from the closet shelf. These things are just...there.

No doubt many of you have already heard of The Dulaan Project. If you haven't and would like to spare some yarn and time to help warm the lives of children living through brutal Mongolian winters, the folks at Flagstaff International Relief Effort could really use the fruits of your craftiness. Detailed information is available at the Dulaan Project partner site, Mossy Cottage.

Bonus for Chicago-area knitters: Franklin of The Panopticon is hosting a Dulaan potluck this weekend in Evanston. Even if you're not particularly into knitting for charity, why not take this opportunity to do this one thing to help someone else in need. Besides, there will be nosh, door prizes and a heck of a lot of knittin' going on!

Who knows? Dolores may even make an appearance.

Are you still looking for a ride to the knit in?

I'm planning to take the train or bus up there, and a little company from you would go a long way.

We could KIP and pretend we're B.M.B. on the #66 bus. ;)

Hey - I hear you were at Franklin's bash... I can't believe I had to miss it! I was all dressed up with only the ER to go to when my husband got an infection... yick. I was really looking forward to seeing you there! I hope you're still recovering well... and thanks for the encouraging comments about my kitchener saga. Hope to see you at snb someday soon!
