This 'n That

SeaSilk - Lily pondFirst a bit of yarn pr0n to tempt you. No so much of the wild abandon yarn purchases chez moi these days. I've been looking around at my mini-mall and am feeling a bit punch-drunk after a year-long buying bender! Poverty and lack of usable space have pulled in the reins on the "anything goes" attitude. Now I'm carefully selective if I buy at all.

Guided by that mantra, I splurged on some Handmaiden SeaSilk in the Lily Pond colorway. So beautiful, the fiber speaks of spring and sunshine. I had the need for a bit of both.

Sleeping kittiesOn another topic, an email from the Uberknitter (aka Diane) asked what became of my kitty tribe of Niki, Rocky and Elvis. As indicated in a previous post, Elvis went for a playdate in the days before my surgery. Unfortunately, that didn't work out so I boarded him until I could find a new home. I posted flyers and contacted cageless shelters but there were no takers - even with the promise of ongoing maintenance until he was adopted.

Thank goodness my mom overcame her initial reluctance after hearing about the conditions in some of the city shelters. One day, she walked in with one of the flyers I'd posted and said, "No need for these. Elvis has a good home with me." It was like a weight lifted off of my heart.

What of Nik and Rocky? They are becoming buddies at last.

The Handmaiden silk looks incredible. Perfect name for it, as well! (I have a tiny lily pond in my side yard, so I know of what I speak, heehee.)
