The Workroom

Workbench projectsThere's a formerly cream-colored settee in my room upon which I've been spending a lot of time. With a taupe pillow behind my back for support and one leg elevated on two smaller green pillows, I sit, watch TV, and knit.

It's important to have everything I'm currently working on within reach when I need it, and out of sight of the cats when I'm not. You see, Nikita has an ongoing affair with paper and plastic so, in his mind, patterns and book jackets are fair game. In addition to the yarn, patterns, and needles, there's even one of those adjustable goose-neck lamps that emit bright daylight - even at night (though I much prefer knitting by natural light).

The workbench sits near floor-to-ceiling windows, through which I occasionally stop to watch the neighbor's elderly yellow Lab chase squirrels or lay sprawled in the midday sun. When I'm not dreaming of other times or other places, I'm trying to focus on finishing the items pictured above: the hot pink and mustard yellow Special Knits baby kimono (2/3rds done), the Hedera socks in Sundara Yarns Red over Orange colorway (just started), and Mom's surprise Perfect Tee in burnt orange (recently frogged, hence the crumple of yarn).

So ends today's slice of my knitting life. Think I'll go take a wee pill now to knock down that pain in my aching shoulder. Later, if the fingers are willing, I'll resume my place in the workroom.

The deep red yarn that is the start of a sock (next to the baby picture) is beautiful. What color and brand is that yarn? Have a happy Thanksgiving and be well!

You're making those Red Over Orange socks for me, right? ;)

I hope you're getting along nicely after your surgery.

The Hedera socks look like they're coming out really well. I love the yarn you're using for them. I made those socks earlier this year and really enjoyed them.

I'd love to know what kind of TV you watch while you knit. It's always interesting to see if knitter's choose like-minded shows.

Looks just like my little nest, with everything within easy reach!

Love your version of Hedera, are they for you?
