The Bella Challenge: What’s Your Limit?

Sarah and Laura of Bella Knitting have this interesting discussion about creativity going on, and what in particular sparks your fire. Toward that end, Laura came up with a crafty list to be answered on an increasing scale of interest of 1 (“No interest”) to 4 (“Love it!”).

Here are my responses, grouped in reverse order:

4. Love it! This is my thing.

  • Knitting, Crochet, Writing, Photography, Story Telling, Acting, Stage work, Music, Singing

3. I do or have dabbled in it.

  • Cross-stitch,Needlepoint, Macramé, Other Crafts, Cooking, Entertaining, Gardening, Flower Arranging, Gift Wrapping, Poetry, Decorating, Graphic Design, Inventing, Video / Film Making, Beading, Jewelry Making, Sewing, Painting or Drawing, Cartooning, Calligraphy

2. I’ll give it a try.

  • Shibori, Quilting, Paper Making, Dyeing

1. I’ve got absolutely no interest.

  • Candle Making, Doll or Toy Making, Scrap Booking, Stamping, Spinning

As you can see, I have quite a few creative interests. Must be the Gemini in me. So what are your creative limits? Feel free to use these or add on, as needed.

This is completely off topic. Some of you may have noticed that Bloglines has been throwing up some old posts quite randomly. My apologies if this messes with your unread stories count. Don’t know what’s gotten into the beast lately. Thanks for reading and commenting though.

  • Great meme! You do have a lot of interests. I took a beeswax candle making class with a friend. Never again!

  • You and I have similar lists…all except the scrapbooking one. I got talked into scrapbooking by a friend who isn’t so crafty. I try to justify it as my time with her. We only do it at the store…they have a huge room and open scrapbooking nights.

I feel like it is my little secret. LOL.

  • There should be a category for ‘Stuff I’ve tried and other people have asked me not to try again’ (that’s me not singing in public, although in my head I’m a fantastic backing vocalist). With you on the scrap booking and such… where would I put such things? There’s no room here.

Thank you so much for your kind words on our current predicament. He’s improving gradually and, because I’m a grown up I know I will be able to refrain from a)murdering anyone and b) banging my head against the wall in public. I reserve the right to retire to the bathroom with a book, however 🙂

  • I want to give shibori a try, too — I’ve seen some cool knitted and shibori’d stuff on Flickr.

  • I have dabbled in Scrapbooking, Doll/Toy making (crocheted a doll and its clothes) and I’ve wanted to try candle making. I’ve REALLY wanted to try quilting. I have no idea what Shibori is – I’ll have to google it. I’m not sure I’m interested in Macrame. All the other stuff you’ve listed though I’m all for either trying it, or love doing it already!

  • Very cool list. I’m surprised to see that you have zero interest in spinning. It is, after all, a fiber art! No judgment though, I’m just curious.

I wish I could hear you sing! I bet you have a fantabulous voice!
