Say What?

Saw: Today I grew a new person
Says: Today I, the new person,

Saw: Gifts of contemptuous jewelry
Says: Gifts of contemporary jewelry

Saw: Light was in the glitter guild meeting
Says: Last night was the knitters guild meeting

Saw: Plenty of time to execute the guy thoroughly.
Says: Plenty of time to evaluate the guy thoroughly.

Could it be that I have some wires crossed in the cerebral cortex or some such? I used to think that my "creative reading" was just amusing but now I wonder if it goes deeper. I swear that I'm not making this stuff up. Could some latent visual perception dysfunction be emerging? Is there a neuroscientist in the house?

Well there's no mistaking this: FREE YARN!

Yes, it's my birthday May 29th but you get the gifts. Leave me a comment from now through midnight (CT) May 30, 2008 containing your best birthday haiku (English 5/7/5 style), along with your color family and weight preference. I'll pick three names at random, then announce the winners on Saturday, May 31, 2008. Be sure to include a valid email address so that I can contact you. For now, I leave you with this:

Spring is half over.
I've knit no warm weather gear -
Just bum shoulder blues.

I got a good giggle out of those misreads. I go through phases when I'll mishear things and I'll just hear the strangest things out of people's mouths. I've never really misread anything though.

I hate when misreads happen, although mine seem to run the "time to execute" way. Hope your Birthday is great.
I would do a Haiku, but believe me you will be much happier if I don't. I am not good at that. Yarn, fiber, knitting, yeah I can do those.

But can't write for sh*t.

Haikus are the best.
Giving away yarn is nice...
Birthdays are better.

Enjoy your special day and your fun little contest! You know how to get a hold of me if need be :)

Happy Birthday!

New York has turned green!
Cold weather has gone away!
People now must thaw.

But I really like Lv2Knit's haiku.

I do the same things with misreads, and I wonder too if there's some mild dyslexia goin' on.

Time slips past us as
birthdays come and go, leaving
happy memories.

Fiber dreams drift soft
Through joyous sleeping mind, with
no need to count sheep.

Jewel tones and black, fingering weight... :)

I work in a Middle School and this conversation was overheard in a classroom there...
"Do you go to church?"
"No, my family doesn't go."
"Well do you know if you're Catholic or Prostitute?"

Sometimes I need to excuse myself to go outside and laugh.

I've no sage advice
Age brings no special wisdom
Have fun and eat cake

I met you in Chicago, WWKIP last year!

And I can't limit myself to one haiku, they breed like rabbits. Quality, not, quantity, yes.

Happy Birthday To
You does not fit evenly
in the haiku form.

Yarn is your metier
Yarn also makes a great gift
Wouldn't you agree?
